Sarah was a flight attendant for United, so she didn't get to show up to all of Johnny's events. When she did they always greeted each other this way. We never understood why. She never told, and John would occasionally mumble something about "long protein strings" but we couldn't make sense of it.
John did his best to protect his family and friends. He kept us in the dark about most of his activities, which he explained were on strictly a "need-to-know" basis. None of us needed to know. But just in case something happened, he had a well-equipped go-bag. I never saw inside, but it was heavier than expected. And for some reason he had access to a special security line at the airports.
John had a short stint as a radio DJ. His contract said he got to play what he wanted (Captain Beefheart, The Kinks, Kermit the Frog). But when he showed up the Suits had filled the library with nothing but Mouseketeer 45s. Rather than walk out in protest, he put the platters on the turntable and invented scratching. Of course he locked the doors first. In the end he ruined a lot of mediocre vinyl and created Generation X.
