John's 1978 Spring Line was a flop. His active wear that combined crew neck and modified Snow White collars was poorly received, and it was just bad timing to bring out visorless hats (those were very big by 1980, but the time had passed). John reacted poorly, and disappeared for a couple of months. Some fans found him camped by the LA River, with a bamboo fishing rod and a remarkably fresh haircut. They brought him back home.
In the late 70s, a few years before Michael Jackson's "Thriller" video, there was a whole Zombie Drummer thing going on with LA garage bands. John's time had finally come.
John watched a lot of TV, and along with the Three Stooges and Little Rascals, he enjoyed The Wild, Wild West.
