The Reichenbach Hot Spring
Mammoth Hot Springs, Yellowstone. This would make an excellent location for a modern Sherlock Holmes and James Moriarty to have their duel. Conan Doyle was able to bring Holmes back because his body was never recovered from the Falls. Given time these springs would have a similar effect.

Memory of Winter, Yellowstone
January in the Lamar Valley. A lone tree provided no shelter from the wind in my face. I saw animal tracks dot the snow, unwarmed by the glowing leaden sky, my thoughts carried away by the river.

Longhorn sheep in their winter forage near Gardiner, Montana. We spied a small herd grazing about 30 yards to the east of the Yellowstone Trail near Gardiner, and stopped to photograph them from the top of our parked truck. After many minutes they determined (correctly) that we are not a threat, and crossed the road about 10 yards ahead in front of us. It was not uncommon for 3 of them to stick together like this.
